Background

Camp Janus is an annual summer camp for children aged 5 to 18 who are burn survivors. From the beginning, it was conceived as an environment where its campers can learn from one another and build self-confidence. It is free to all participants.

A volunteer Board and extended community run Camp Janus as a labor of love. They’ve run this unique experience for decades on a very ambitious budget.

Project

The Board’s custom is to pick an annual theme. In 2018, the session celebrated Marvel comics and films. Fellow designer Josefin Jansson and I collaborated on a themed name tags and award certificate.

While we collaborated on color ways and components, we did divide and conquer on the specific pieces. I designed the award certificate, while Josefin worked on the camper name tags.

We worked on pulling together images that suggested super-heroes coming to the rescue…without lifting Marvel-branded art.

As a little extra, I also designed something for stickers and buttons. Someone was really fond of Thor.
